Special Passengers
One day when he was staying at Kosanjin during the Fatherland Liberation War, President Kim Il Sung visited a small KPA unit stationed in the locality. On the occasion he happened to know that some soldiers had taken some stray cows with them on their way of strategic temporary retreat.
Talking to the soldiers he said that cows just meant family members to the peasants, and urged that they should keep the cows in good condition until they returned them to their owners.
Some time later, something awkward happened to the soldiers, for they had to move away. They knew that they could hardly take the cows with them, which they had to bring back to the owners. When the soldiers said that they wanted to take the cows with them in a military carriage, the railway officials flatly rejected the idea.
Hearing the story, Kim Il Sung wrote a note of instruction that as much as possible convenience should be offered for the transport of the cows within that day. Then, he made it delivered to a relevant high-ranking official at the railway station.
Thus, a legendary tale came that tells how the stray cows were transported as “special passengers” on their return home by a military train which was expected to carry weapons and munitions to the front.
