Recollection on a Significant Day
It was on the morning of February 8, 1948.
While getting ready to see a military parade, the President Kim Il Sung recalled: It seems only yesterday that I proclaimed the founding of the Anti-Japanese People’s Guerrilla Army in Antu, Northeast China, wearing a military uniform made by my mother in her sickbed, but 16 years have already passed since then.
His wife Kim Jong Suk, the anti-Japanese war heroine, was also overcome with emotion.
Since he proclaimed the founding of the guerrilla army, Kim Il Sung had led the anti-Japanese armed struggle to victory, thus, liberating the country. Soon after liberation, he had put forth the policy of developing the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army into the regular revolutionary armed forces and trained the hardcore for a regular army.
Kim Il Sung told Kim Jong Suk: We could make preparations for founding the People’s Army in time even in the difficult and complicated situation after liberation because we had trained the hardcore for the revolutionary armed forces and gained rich experience while waging the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
Then he said to go out the square and see the magnificent military parade of our army, which would defend the national dignity and honour.
That morning after recollecting the origin of the regular revolutionary armed forces, which would shine in the history of army founding, he headed for the venue of the military parade together with Kim Jong Suk and his son Kim Jong Il.
