Weight of Knitwear

One December day in 2011, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Hamhung Knitwear Factory in freezing weather due to the heavy snow on the previous day.
Looking at the samples displayed in the sample room, he was very pleased that quality thermal underwear could be provided to the people and had a look at a dark pink sweater for women.
After looking at the sweater without any words for a while, he asked an official to hold it, asking him if it felt a bit heavy.
The official answered that it might be so because of the weight of the hanger, but, after holding once again, he repeated that it felt heavy.
Officials were all surprised, for the sweater, knitted with thick thread for hand knitting, was a bit heavier and thicker than the one knitted with thread spun by machine.
Many people had concerned about the colours and shapes of the factory’s products so far, but none of them mentioned about their weights.
It was only Kim Jong Il, who cared for the weight of goods to be provided to our people.
