“Special Lecture” on Field
While giving on-site guidance at a farm in a remote mountainous region in Jagang Province in autumn one year, President Kim Il Sung came across an unfamiliar species of haricot bean.
Pleased to see the bean plant with big pods, he said to the officials accompanying him that haricot bean is very good for health. And he told them about the protein contents of egg and haricot bean.
Struck with admiration for his ample knowledge, the officials looked up to him.
Kim Il Sung continued after a while: Haricot bean helps children to grow quickly in height and weight; we should cultivate it in various parts of the country so as to feed the children of nurseries and kindergartens on it.
Hearing him, the officials were deeply moved by his ennobling outlook on rising generations, with which he always thought of children first.
What he said that day was a “special lecture” calling for giving primary concern to children, the future of the country.
