Transplanting Rice Seedlings with Farmers
One day in June 1947 the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung went to Mirim Plain. Saying that he was there to transplant rice seedlings together with the farmers, he headed to the field.
When an official brought him a pair of boots, Kim Il Sung said to him that farmers did not wear boots while transplanting rice and that it was better to transplant rice in bare feet. After putting aside the boots, he entered a paddy field and started to work.
The field was filled with laughter and liveliness.
When an official tried to help him by planting in his area, Kim Il Sung told him with a smile not to “intrude” into other’s area and said: As we are all here to transplant rice, each of us should fulfil his norm.
The atmosphere was further lightened by his remarks.
Indeed, Kim Il Sung was the genuine people’s leader who shared sweets and bitters with them, sometimes even transplanting rice seedlings with farmers.
