Genuine Patriotism

One day, looking round the Ryongwang Pavilion with an official, Chairman Kim Jong Il gave instructions on how to well preservee and manage cultural relics.
He suddenly asked the official how he commute in the morning.
The official told him that he commuted by bus.
Hearing his answer, Kim Jong Il thought deeply for a while, and said that officials had better start their daily work with looking round the city.
He continued: Officials should leave home early in the morning, look round streets and villages, checking whether the cultural relics are preserved properly, whether the streets are cleaned in good time and whether the amusement facilities for children are not damaged, and should take necessary measures; genuine patriotism starts from the love of the street and village where one lives and the place one works.
Kim Jong Il meant that genuine love for one’s motherland is not an abstract concept but it starts from love for one’s parents, spouse and children, love for one’s native village and workplace, and that it develops into love for one’s country and fellow people.
