Getting wet early in the morning
It rains only a little in Korea in spring, which is a typical climate there. One year dozens of years ago it seldom rained until early in April all across Korea.
Late on the evening of April 14 that year President Kim Il Sung returned to his lodgings from his travel of field guidance after taking measures for irrigating dry fields which had been affected by drought. Instead of going to bed, he often opened the window and looked up at the night sky.
The sky was laden with dark rain clouds which seemed to pour at any moment. Yet there was no rain for hours.
Then, on the morning of April 15, it began to rain at last. Even without wearing an overcoat, he stepped out into the yard. He opened his hands and assessed the amount of rainfall. After a moment he wore a bright smile.
An official approached him and said in an emotional voice that it was too much for him to be like that [when it was his birthday].Now the President said in a very happy voice: You talk of my birthday again and again, but I am happier now to have the rain than to celebrate my birthday.
Kim Il Sung was such a kind of man.
