Torch of Kangson
On December 24, over 10 years ago—it was quite a meaningful day—Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Chollima Steel Complex, dubbed as Kangson, the home of Chollima. Seeing the workers doing their job while standing in front of an electric furnace surging with molten steel, the leader spoke highly of the managers, technicians and other employees of the complex for their successful building of a Korean-style UHP electric arc furnace which was referred to as the cream of the steel industry. Hearing him the managers felt moved, for it was the Chairman who proposed to build the furnace and led them in surmounting difficulties and ordeals for themselves.
Saying that only when Kangson, home of Chollima, was pulsating, would the whole country be seething with vigour, and that only when the Kangson workers advanced dynamically would the workers all across the country be able to make a faster pace, Kim Jong Il ardently appealed to the Chollima Steel Complex to make a flaring torch of a new revolutionary upsurge.
The torch of Kangson kindled by the Chairman with his great trust in the Korean people was the signal of a new revolutionary upsurge.
